From 1 October 2026 new base MTPL tariffs approved by the State Financial Supervision Service take effect in Kyrgyzstan. Passenger-car policies will cost on average 8–12% more, but the property-damage payout limit rises from 200,000 to 300,000 som. Here is what a policy will cost, what you risk without one and how to save.
New tariffs
The base rate for a private passenger car rises from 1,400 to 1,550 som. Coefficients are applied: engine power (1.0 to 2.2), region (Bishkek 1.4, Osh 1.2, regions 1.0), driving experience and a bonus-malus coefficient for claim-free driving.
- Toyota Corolla 1.6, Bishkek, 10 years claim-free: about 2,550 som (currently 2,350).
- Toyota Camry 2.5, Bishkek: about 3,400 som.
- Lexus RX 3.5, Bishkek: about 4,900 som.
- Honda Fit 1.3, Osh: about 1,950 som.
Drivers with two or more at-fault accidents in a year pay 40% more, while 3 claim-free years in a row earn a 15% discount.
Fines
The fine for driving without a valid MTPL policy is 3,000 som (Article 152 of the Code of Offences), 5,000 som for a repeat offence within a year. Since August, Safe City cameras automatically match plates against the regulator's database, so fines arrive without an inspector stopping you. You can pay with a 50% discount within 20 days via Tunduk.
How to buy cheaper
The base-tariff price is the same at every insurer, but companies compete on service and discounts: SK Kyrgyzstan, Jubilee and Bakai Insurance give 5–10% off for online purchase and up to 15% when bought together with KASKO. A policy takes 7 minutes with the registration certificate number and arrives electronically; no printing needed, inspectors check the database.
Renew before 1 October at the old tariffs: renewal is possible 30 days before expiry. Compare insurers and buy MTPL online on FinMarketKG.
