Unlike MTPL, KASKO in Kyrgyzstan is voluntary and covers damage to your own car: at-fault accidents, theft, hail, falling trees and third-party actions. According to the regulator only 6% of car owners in the country have KASKO, but in Bishkek demand is growing 20% a year because of traffic and hail. Here are the prices and the logic of choosing.
How much it costs
The tariff depends on the car's value and age, the driver's experience and the deductible. Average prices for September 2026:
- 2020 Toyota Camry (2.3 million som): full KASKO 38,000–46,000 som a year, with a 20,000 som deductible 22,000–27,000 som.
- 2022 Hyundai Tucson (3 million som): 52,000–60,000 som, with a deductible 31,000–36,000 som.
- 2015 Honda Fit (750,000 som): 16,000–19,000 som, with a deductible 9,500–11,000 som.
The payout leaders are Bakai Insurance, Jubilee and SK Kyrgyzstan: average payout time 9–14 days, repairs at partner garages with no cash involved.
When KASKO pays off
You need a policy if the car was bought on credit (the bank requires it), if it is under 5 years old and worth more than 1.5 million som, if you drive more than 20,000 km a year in the city or park on the street. The average accident damage in Bishkek is 85,000 som, hail damage 120,000 som. One payout covers 2–3 years of premiums.
If the car is over 8 years old and worth less than 800,000 som, it is better to put 2,000 som a month into a 12% savings account: over three years that is 78,000 som of reserve that stays yours if nothing happens.
What to check in the contract
A deductible cuts the price by 35–45%, but you pay the first 15,000–25,000 som of damage yourself. Check whether theft is covered (not always), whether depreciation is applied to payouts, whether the number of claims per year is limited and whether towing is included.
