According to the State Registration Service, in 2026 62% of passenger cars imported into Kyrgyzstan are right-hand-drive from Japan: Toyota, Honda and Nissan aged 5–10 years. The average price is $12,000–18,000. Banks long refused to finance such cars, but now 8 of 23 banks offer car loans on right-hand-drive vehicles. Here are the terms.
Who lends and at what rate
- Optima Bank: 18–21% per year, 20% down, up to 5 years, car no older than 12 years.
- KICB: 17.5–20%, 25% down, up to 5 years, partner dealers only.
- Bakai Bank: 19–23%, 15% down, up to 6 years, car up to 15 years old.
- MBank: 20–24%, 10% down, up to 4 years, online decision within an hour.
- Aiyl Bank: 18–22%, 20% down, available in the regions.
Rates are 2–3 points higher than on new dealer cars because the collateral is less liquid. On the plus side, KASKO is not required for the whole term — only in the first year at half the banks.
Sample calculation
A 2019 Toyota Fielder for $14,000 (1.22 million som). A 20% down payment is 245,000 som, loan 980,000 som for 4 years at 19%. Payment about 29,300 som a month, overpayment 427,000 som. With 40% down and a 3-year term the payment is 26,900 som and the overpayment drops to 235,000 som.
What to watch
The bank registers the pledge with the State Registration Service and keeps the original registration certificate until repayment. You cannot sell the car without the bank's consent. Check the car's history via the auction sheet: KICB and Optima request it themselves and refuse cars with rolled-back mileage or rebuilt after a serious accident.
If the car is already bought, a car-secured loan from an MFO or an unsecured consumer loan may be cheaper: compare both options in the FinMarketKG loan calculator.
